Run Fatty Run!

I have been reading Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running! Today I am about 30 pages from finishing it and I realised this book has inspired me to do one thing I used to love doing as a child, run. I have been overweight for the last 3 years and, I have even hit the obese button in the past year, barely, but I have.

I have tried everything from fad diets to going to the gym but nothing seemed to work. After a few days I would give up or, work hard one day and then quit the next. But, this time without realising I started working out; I started running. Reading the book and the author's passion for running something dead deep within woke up with a start.

I will be honest and say it has been only 6 days but I have actually enjoyed every bit of it. Everyday, I look forward to 5am and my long walks and runs.

     Early Morning reading & blogging!
It was not a meditated thought. One morning I started running randomly when I couldn't sleep throughout the night before. I have been having difficulty sleeping for the past few months and nothing I try seem to work. So, one day at dawn I just decided to give up and go for a walk. It was a brief 20-minute walk but it did the trick. It cleared my mind and I came back to a lovely nap.

Of course, this has a lovely side effect, losing weight! :D I lost 3 kgs in the past week and now I feel more encouraged. Just 25 more to go! (Not much at all)

I do thank the book and the author for once again inspiring me to run! I look forward to that time of the day, when I put on some funky music and run or walk to it. I hope to run 15 kms a day by August. I will of course keep updating my progress! :D

Chicken Momos

Everybody has their comfort food, something that makes a dull day happy, a sad day vibrant. Being a foodie, I have too many of them. But, momos are on the top of the list. For long time now I have been planning to try my hand at it, but never dared till today. Here, goes momo my way.

Ingredients

White Flour - 75 gms
Oil
Salt
Chicken (minced) - 250 gms
Green Chilli
Fresh Coriander
Vinegar
Garlic
Lemon Grass
American Sweet Corn

Method

The Dough

Put 1 tbsp of oil and a pinch of salt in the white flour and start mixing. Put water and mix further. Let the dough breath once done.

Stuffing

Marinade the minced chicken with chopped green chillies, chopped coriander and vinegar and keep it in the refrigerator for an hour or more. (preferably keep it overnight)

After marination, put 1 tsp of salt or as needed and mix well.

Soup

Put leftover chicken bones in boiling water, season it with salt, pepper and lemon grass. Put fresh American sweet corn and let it simmer for 30 - 45 mins.

Momos

Roll out the dough and cut it out in small circles. Put the stuffing in each circle and shape them like a dumpling. (See picture)

Steam it over the hot soup. This adds extra flavour to the momos.

Serve with the hot soup. Feel comforted.
